Welcome from the Leadership Team

Dear Spartans,

To new first-year and transfer students, welcome to UNCG! To our returning students, welcome back! Although this semester will undoubtedly bring new challenges, we are excited for the opportunities it will bring – opportunities for community, for worship, and for service.

We’re looking forward this fall to continuing old traditions and creating new ones to meet the unique needs of our students and our time. We’re creating new small groups to help build communities and strengthen relationships, even in a time of social distancing, and we’re seeking out ways to worship and serve together even when we cannot be together in person.

We are committed to making sure that Wesley-Luther is a place for everyone, regardless of their race, gender identity, orientation, ability, physical or mental illness, socioeconomic status, faith background, or any other identity or classification.

We will continue working to identify and dismantle systems of racism and oppression in our communities and in our faith institutions. We will continue working to identify and dismantle implicit and explicit biases within ourselves. We will continue to call out racism and discrimination among our friends, loved ones, and communities. BLACK LIVES MATTER.

To LGBTQ+ students, you have a home here. We affirm that people of every gender identity and every sexuality are created in the image of God, and that LGBTQ+ people belong everywhere decisions are being made, including and especially in our communities of faith.

2020 has been and will continue to be a time of uncertainty and a time of fear. We know that the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications have affected everyone in unique and challenging ways, and we want you to know that we care about you and that we are praying for you.

We wish you a safe and successful semester, and we hope to see you soon at one of our virtual events!

Love and Peace,

The Wesley-Luther Student Leadership Team
