Wesley-Luther has served the university as a non-profit campus ministry committed to supporting students and advocating for issues of inclusion and justice for more than 100 years. Wesley-Luther began a small food pantry in 2009 to serve hungry students at UNC Greensboro. A natural partnership with the Division of Student Affairs developed as that pantry grew. The SOP has become a national example of a model of effective collaboration between a campus nonprofit and a University to provide support for hungry students and Staff

Much of the pantry professional staff time and operations are funded out of the Wesley-Luther general budget. Funding is also given for our students staff, food, and operations from the Lilly Endowment, College Place United Methodist Church, Christ United Methodist Church, West Market United Methodist Church, First Lutheran Church, Jewish Family Services, Student Affairs and other local groups and individual donors in our Spartan Community.  The Spartan Open Pantry would not be possible without the incredible donations of the UNCG staff, students and faculty.
