As the semester continues to progress, let’s not forget about the others who are around you; it is too easy for us to get caught up in what we are doing and become oblivious about others.  We all go through trials and have our own problems, and taking that into consideration we should all remember to treat everyone with respect and kindness.  No matter how bad your day may be going or what you may be going through, somebody may also be experiencing hard times and you could be the difference maker when it comes to the way they are feeling.  How would you feel if you had just went through a break-up between you and your significant other and have someone treat you poorly or disrespectful?  It would only make things worse for you and that could be a breaking point for you.

Ephesians 4:32 states, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”  We should take this to heart and remember that a simple smile or a friendly hello goes a long way.  Sparking a conversation may be exactly what that person needed; the small things sometimes have huge impacts on others.  No matter what is going on in my life, I try to be that person that always has a smile on his face and is welcoming to everyone I meet.  We never know what the other person’s situation is like and by treating everyone with kindness and respect we are avoiding making their lives worse.  The act of kindness is an act like no other and it will forever have a positive impact on others. Possibly you could help someone with their homework if you know anything about the subject that they are struggling with or maybe just offer to go with them and get something to eat.  I hear that getting coffee and sitting outside is peaceful and relaxing.  The bottom line is that we all have busy schedules and things going on in our lives, but we have to make time and effort to be more kind to others.  I personally feel as if this is important and based off scripture God believes so as well.  My mother always taught me growing up to treat others as you wanted to be treated and I believe that if everyone treated each other with kindness and respect, that the world would be a better place.  I challenge you to try this more often in hopes that you can make a difference in someone else’s life.
